ԿpF0?  .~~B~~BIt was her junior year in high school when a friend asked miyuki to help paint a cloud on a cyc for their high school production of South Pacific. It was seeing this single perfect cloud on stage during a performance that she knew that creating art for the stage was in the right direction of what she wanted to do for a living. miyuki went on to attend Meredith College where she spent endless hours and nights on designing, painting, sewing, constructing, and even directing theatre productions as well as interning at a couple of theatre companies. Upon graduating with a BA in theatre, she began designing professionally for local theatres in the Raleigh, NC area. She was chosen as the feature artist of the month in a local newspaper in Feb 2003 and her designs had consistently been in the top theatre designs of the year in the News & Observer newspaper and the Independent Weekly. At a very delicate moment in her life (turning 30), miyuki decided that she needed to update the direction of her career. The rise in popularity of CG animation in feature films and television was increasingly peaking miyukis interest. When she toured the School of Communication Arts in Raleigh, NC, the opportunity to study digital animation was presented to her and she decided to take the chance. After studying different aspects of digital animation, miyukis class was asked to start thinking about what aspect of animation they wanted to concentrate on. Her class had learned enough to come up with concepts for character designs, making a maquette of a character, model and texture characters and environments, light environments, rigging and animating a character. She discovered a few things about each of the different aspects of the animation field that she was interested in pursuing. Due to her background in designing scenery for theatre, she figured that the most logical position for her to work at would be modeling environments. She enjoyed modeling the environment that she did in class, however, she realized that she had more satisfaction in modeling characters. miyuki knew that the pleasure she would get out of seeing a character that she modeled come to life would be the same pleasure she got out of seeing her theatre designs come alive on stage. In addition to modeling characters, she also found herself immensely enjoy animating characters as well. Deep down she had always wanted to act but her fear of forgetting lines and unintentionally making a fool of herself on stage had prevented her from getting on the stage. Animating a character would be a perfect alternative! She decided that the best thing for her to do was to market herself to be able to do both modeling and animating characters and also show that she has the ability to model environments as well if asked to do so.
